Iranian Graphic Design

The other day in class we had the opportunity to interview Steven Heller. I asked him about global communication and design in other cultures, and he briefly mentioned Iranian design. My god man… this stuff is amazing. Very inspiring.
Most of the stuff I’ve come across has some really great typography, which makes me think: am I able to appreciate it better because I have no clue what it says and I don’t get lost in the message? I know, I know… The message is king. But maybe I can appreciate the craft and aesthetic more because I don’t get caught up in words. I could be wrong (and I probably am), but I think the text is in Farsi. The letter forms are beautiful.
